END OF DARK NIGHTS?
It was around 12 pm when the entire Pakistani nation's eyes were bond to TV Screens watching news channels impatiently waiting for the verdict of Supreme Court of Pakistan about the Panama Case. Everyone was busy in making their guesses about the future of Prime Minister of Pakistan and discussing about the political future of the country. It had been a long wait for nation and for whole political world as well to heed the decision about Panama Probe which had propagated precariousness among the nation. And finally, the time came when 5 member bench of Supreme Court Judges reached out at Court No.1 room, The eye of camera adhered at the Supreme court, News Channels got agog to win the race in flashing the decision first and the people became more impatient to listen to the historic decision. And At last, the wordings arose on TV Screen "…………………Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is Disqualified"
It was the end of itchy wait for the People of Pakistan. They had been waiting for this for nearly 1.5 year. Hence, they took no time in celebrating the moment. Some take streets, Some take their rooms and some headed to the streets and the sweet shops to express their exhilaration except the supporters of PML-N and Nawaz Sharif who had nothing but to be heavyhearted by this decision.
I also had my eyes on TV Screen and was sensing the historic moments in the history of Pakistan. As it was Friday, I had to offer Friday Prayers so i took bath, got prepared for Namaz and took the way to Mosque. After offering prayers, while on the way back to home, I met with an old man and congratulated him about the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He got happy listening the news and excitedly asked "Achha, Ab Hamain Kya Milega?" (Oh so what we will get now?)
That one sentence impelled me into the ocean of cerebrations! It made me compelled to feel that 'today is no historic day but the victory of some political and non political forces!' I really felt that what it will give to 60% people surviving in Pakistan down to the poverty line but it will surely benefit some political forces and the opportunists!
Panama Verdict, Undoubtedly, is a positive sign for the accountability of rulers of the state as it may start the process of checking the pockets and the bags of the richly powerful people of Pakistan and its complete credit goes to IMRAN KHAN, The man taking the bow, leading from the front and also to the supporters and workers of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf who received shells, bullets and sticks on their chest during the 4 Nov Protest!
There is no doubt that Panana Verdict in 'one of' historic desicion in the judicial and political history of Pakistan but it will not conclude all the troubles in the country. This process of accountability should spread its roots to all the responsible personnel of political parties of Pakistan. It should also include the amenable persons from military and judiciary in its flow otherwise it will evidenced to only be the political win of PTI and others and the process of accountability which had to pioneered by NAB, has been regretfully initiated by the Judiciary will go in waste and the crocodiles will keep swallowing the taxes of the people of Pakistan.
This is never an END OF DARK NIGHTS but it can surely rise the sun of new era in Pakistan, It can bring shiny dovish morning for the grinded poor people of the country, It can rise a Pakistan where no one would be superior to the law, where people from different cultures will hold the flag of Pakistan proudly, where people from other countries would come to visit Pakistan passionately! These all dreams can come true like a poet has concluded in a beautiful way:
"Laazim Hai Ke Hum Bhi Dekhengy, Hum Dekhengy!"
